Hello, and welcome to my first blog post here on wordpress.com!
I think I’ll start with a little bit about me and why I’m writing this blog:
I live in one of the most beautiful and heartening parts of the UK: in North Wales, where I’ve been for some 12 years now. This place inspires me: the language (I’ve been learning to siarad Cymraeg tipyn bach – to ‘speak Welsh a little bit’), the landscape, even the weather – which can be tempestuous, caught somewhere between the sea and mountains.
My day job is mentally challenging and at times… exhausting! So, in my spare time I like to be creative, read by the fire snuggled under a blanket and go for walks with my partner and our months old puppy.
I never meant to stay in North Wales, it began as a move – as so many do – for university life. But the place is both enchanting and stimulating, and I’ve met some fantastic people along the way.
This, my little corner of the UK, is where I call home and go about my day to day life. It might not be the fast paced metropolitan city or the most ultra modern, but there’s plenty on offer and I’d like to celebrate it!
So here’s to the rural, the dreamy and sleepy, the slow paced and the ponderous. This curious place I am gladdened to call home.
